My Makeup Bag - The Drugstore Edition

My Makeup Bag - The Drugstore Edition

Ever since I was little, I've always LOVED makeup. Now, I can't say that I've mastered techniques such as contouring like Kim Kardashian West or gracefully am able to glue on some fake lashes. Truth be told, I just recently started to paint my brows. Well at least attempting to. Nonetheless, I'm a makeup enthusiast, whose heart skips a beat when I walk into Sephora or Ulta. All the pretty packaging, fun names and endless opportunities to have your face look like Mario Dedivanovic worked his magic.

Now let's get REAL. As much as I obsess over new luxury beauty and makeup products, they can at times break the bank. Recently I've been reaching for more drugstore makeup, which as you can imagine, my husband and wallet are quite happy about this. Everyone always thinks that "drugstore" makeup may not be able to give you that same "flawless" look luxury brands allow you to achieve - I know I did. It wasn't until a fabulous co-worker recommended a concealer from Maybelline® for me to try since I have serious dark circles that need help STAT! #MomLife. Once I tried it, I was hooked and months later, everything in my makeup bag can be found at any local drugstore (CVS or Walgreens) or the place where the majority of my money goes willingly...Target :)

Here are some of the products I'm currently obsessed with:

Maybelline® Instant Age Rewind Concealer (Light Pale): If you struggle with covering your dark circles or like to use concealer to highlight, this is the product for you. It's a full coverage concealer that helps with fine lines, comes in six different shades, two different sizes and releases the product via a little sponge at the top of the packaging. Product glides on smoothly, has a creamy texture so you don't feel like it dries out your under eyes and can be worked into the skin easily with a Beauty Blender or your ring finger. Can't beat a concealer that is only $5.99 (said in the Victoria Secret semi-annual sale's announcer voice😂)

Wet n Wild® MegaGlo Makeup Stick (Peach Bums): I recently picked this up at my local CVS and it's quickly become my go-to blush/highlight for summer. Because it's cream based, the product melts into your skin leaving you with a natural "no-makeup" make-up effect. Looking for more drama in a blush? You can use it as a foundation blush and simply layer a powder blush on top for a more pigmented look. Wet n Wild has developed this product in three color options and for $3.99, how could you really resist.

Wet n Wild® Photo Focus™ Foundation (Buff Bisque): When a foundation promises to to be "high-performing snd skin perfecting" while leaving your face looking matte with #nofilter, you question how this is possible. Yet, the product delivers! I like to apply some product with the wand all over my face and blend it in with a beauty blender. This has been my everyday foundation over the last few weeks since it leaves my face looking effortlessly natural, yet completely photo ready at the same time. My skin photographs beautifully whenever I wear this foundation and for $5.99, the formula of this product can really compete with luxury foundations.

L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Waterproof Original Mascara (Carbon Black): Simply put, ONE OF THE BEST MASCARA'S EVER and it's only $7. There is a reason so many celebs swear by this product, because it is that good. The hue on this mascara really defines your eyelashes and helps eyes stand out, regardless of their color. You can build up this product for a more dramatic look or create a more natural look with just simple swipe of the brush. If you pass this in the aisle the next time your shopping, put it in your cart and thank me later.

Milani Make It Lake Makeup Setting Spray: I know what you are gonna tell me, "But I love my Urban Decay All Nighter Spray" and I totally respect that. However, for $10.00, I highly recommend this new setting spray by Milani Cosmetics as an alternative. The "spray" isn't harsh like others currently in the market, but more of a mist. Setting the face nicely, this product really locks in your makeup, so that it stays put all day long. Touch-ups will be minimal, if not non-existent.

Moral of the story is you don't have to sacrifice looking fierce and flawless just because you're trying to be more budget-friendly when it comes to your makeup selections. Drugstore brands can easily help you achieve whatever makeup look you are striving for at a fraction of the cost. If you have any recommendation on products you LOVE from the drugstore or if you try any of the products above, please share your stories/experiences with me below. Can't wait to hear from you all!
