Drugstore Makeup Finds - September 2018
As a lover of all things beauty, I’m always trying to find new products at a bargain to test out. Form my previous Drugstore Review, some of you may know that Drugstore brands have really stepped up their game & you can get a beauty look without breaking your bank. Below are my current favorite products that have made their residence in my everyday makeup bag.
I’ve been big fan of Pixie Beauty by Petra for a while, so when I was browsing through Target recently their Flawless & Poreless Primer caught my attention. This translucent, oil & paraben free primer is good for all skin types and leaves a velvety finish. A little goes a long way when using this product and it comes in a mini size (aside from the full size) which can easily be used as tester or for your upcoming travels. I only use a dime size amount on my T-Zone area since that’s where I tend to be the shiniest and have the most amount of pores that needs to be minimized. Recently tested this product in the blazing heat of Disney World, where I was extremely impressed on how the product held up my makeup and keep my skin looking smooth.
Several bloggers that I follow on YouTube have chatted about Flower Beauty products in the past but I couldn’t find it at my local Walmart until recently. Sorry if I’m completely late to the bandwagon on this one, but it’s my go-to Blush, Bronzer and Highlight these day so I had to mention it. This is a powder based palette that has everything you need to contour and highlight your face in one modern, conventient compact. What I was so impressed by is how easy the powders blend together and layer seamlessly for a soft look or even a more dramatic look since they are buildable. The only negative about this palette is their tends to be a little more fall out of blush and bronzer then I would like yet I’ll forgive this because of the quality, finish and price.
Raise your hand if you love Blush as much as I do! (Hello I see you 😁) I rarely ever use just one blush whenever I apply my makeup since I like to create dimension in my cheeks. I picked up the Flower Beauty Flower Pot Powder Blush in Wild Rose since I was looking for a pop of color as Fall begins to roll into Miami. Just like the blush in the Contour Palette, these single blushes as easy to blend with a buildable color and gives you a natural radiance. To the touch, your cheeks will have a soft satin finish and will give you a simple warm glow on your cheeks. The pots come in about 5-6 different shades and you can pick them up at your local Walmart or online.
Most of the times I’m running out of the house to start the day, so I don’t have time to put on a full blown face. Lately, I just like to keep my everyday on the simple side and Maybelline’s Fit Me Powder gives me that mattifyed, nature look on my skin. I normally apply this with a powder brush or a beauty sponge all over my face & neck for an light-medium all day coverage. This powder comes in a small compact that fits in your makeup bag & even has a little mirror just in case you are in need of one. It comes in like 16 Shades and honestly is a great base for your everyday look.
It’s all about setting, forgetting and being confidence that your makeup is finished. Although I love me some Laura Mercier Transulencet setting powder, I’ve found the NYC HD Finishing Powder in Banana to be equally as effective. And hello, for way less! Its a lightweight, translucent powder that is a silky pressed powder but leaves a soften, fresh matte finish to your face. If you are looking for something that soften the appearances of fine lines and pores, simply you a tapered brush & apply all over your face. Personally, I love to use the Banana Color with a beauty sponge and lightly press the product under my eyes to make sure my concealer & dark circles stay in place all day. The product also comes in a translucent (white) and mint green.
Leave me comments below if you LOVE any of these products and tell me what you love about them & how they have helped you achieve your makeup looks. I’m always looking for new products, so if you have any recommendation on gems you’ve found at the Drugstore, I’d love to hear from you!
